what PCs were first to use serial ata
what PCs were first to use serial ata (SATA)? From the Wiki, 2000 was when SATA came out witch would be the Pentium III era I do have lot of IBM desktops from early 90s to all the way when IBM sold out. All my Pentium III PCs only have IDE PATA and even my early Pentium 4 NetVista. I think my ThinkCentre Pentium 4 witch is 2003+ is when you started to see 2 SATA ports on the board along with 2 power connectors for SATA. And for the ThinkPad the T,R,X,Z60 were the first to get SATA.

Yes, you are correct. SATA may have come out in 2000, but as with every new peripheral technology, it took a couple of years for it to be integrated into mainstream chipsets. Before that time, you could conceivable enable it via a PCI adapter in your desktop system.
For Intel, ICH5 (~2003) marked the first chipset with an integrated SATA controller. The earliest Thinkpad with a SATA controller were actually the T43/X41/R52/Z60 series (ICH6-M). But in T43/X41/R52, a PATA-SATA bridge was integrated so they actually used PATA IDE drives.
For Non-Intel chipsets, I believe VIA had it first in VT8237 (~2002-2003) and nVidia had it in nForce3 and some late nForce 2 variants (~2003-2004).

My Dell Poweredge 400SC(2004) had SATA. The drives and cables were quirky because the cable was connected to both the power and data port as a hige connector but the power port wasnt acutally connected. The drives were the last to use molex for power but SATA power worked fine.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
