Dell Inspiron 15 5565

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Fri Apr 06, 2018 2:00 pm

I'm looking at http://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/del ... 10p2c2830a and someone is selling locally... what would be a good price to offer him? I found a few AMD A12 for right around $300 so I don't know what to offer since this is new in box never been open and don't want to offend him... I'm looking to resell this one on eBay or such but know nothing about the AMD A9-9400... What is the Intel equivalent to this?

A look in passmark benchmark rating is equal to Pentium 4415U, the kaby lake refresh roughly. But you don't discount the AMD's superior intergrated GPU on that A9-9400.

This is "Stoney Ridge" (2016) Fabrication 28 nm soldered down, 2 based on "Excavator v2" x86 CPU cores 2 core only, shared 1MB cache, no hypertreading 2.4 GHz 3.2 GHz turboboost,
iGPU on same die with CPU is R5 with 3 cores, 192:12:4 configuration running up to 800MHz. Think of a true video chipset for good GPU performance than intel's integrated GPU. The whole thing is 10W TDP means too much compromises on CPU performance so equivalent is Intel's Pentium 4415U but Intel's iGPU is far more weaker than this R5 on this A9-9400. The Dell is still selling this model with A9-9400 for 529.00 out the door. Just skip seller anyway. Many students need little more better than that like A12 or AMD FX™ 9800P and 16GB. 300 is about right and make sure to transfer owner-ship so buyer can get this fixed down the road as this is still in warranty.

I had worked with AMD computers like that and they work rather well. Yet A9-9400 is bit too low spec for my taste and is not swappable (motherboard swap is required).

Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Ok I think I'll be passing it up as I don't like Dell's anyways... And being a consumer laptop with a Pentium equivalent CPU means I won't be using it at all... If I buy it for $300 and sell it I won't get much more money for it... Thanks even though GPU is better the CPU is what would hold it back for me

This one has 8gb ram 1tb HDD 72K and windows 10 home
