A question about an online seller in US
A question about an online seller in US
Hi there. I'm wondering if any of forum members has purchased anything form this seller https://cfusion.com It seems to be alive as I got a respond on my e-mail. One can find some interesting used or NOS vintage IBM parts, but the prices seem to be rather high, sometimes ridiculously high. Overall impression is mixed.
So I'm a bit unsure if it's safe to order from there. Would be great to get more info about this seller.
Thanks.

I can forgive that photoshop if they ship what they offer
I was looking at LCD assemblies which are new and sealed. The price is $60, which is okay(ish) if you compare it with the price of HDDs above. But still it's more than I'd like to pay for it. Given this, I don't want to take the risk of not receiving it at all

They are so sketchy that they just might be legit.
IMO the bigger issue is whether they are a good value. What part are you looking for? How competitive are they compared to other sellers? How much does it matter if the part is sealed?
Ditto. You should be fine doing this.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 12:00 pmPay with a credit card and fight the charge if nothing comes.

Re: A question about an online seller in US
I've finally ordered what I wanted, and can reply my own question. The seller turned out to be absolutely reliable.
It used to be a service company back in the day. And this explains the prices - guess they just kept the old prices, without having adjusted them to age. The prices are negotiable though, but not too much.

Re: A question about an online seller in US
We no longer live in the Commerce system of caveat emptor, today the sellers have more to risk than the buyers. Anyone who has done business on eBay knows how easy it is for buyer to screw a seller and very difficult for the reverse. I think the biggest thing you have to fear buying laptop parts is improperly repaired parts because they only have to work a few weeks in order to satisfy the consumer protection laws. With eBay they will not even help you with any problems after a certain time. Has elapsed. First and foremost the safest place to buy is right here in our forum. Be careful of new members selling stuff but all of the long-time sellers would never violate the trust in this forum. The staff here would never allow it! When it comes to random websites as long as you use a credit card PayPal or any type of Bank payment it would be easy to reverse the charges if you do not get what you ordered. The biggest problem will be trying to convince an at a credit card company or PayPal that one laptop part is different than another which is why you are so much better buying in this forum but if you're talkin about less than $100 are you really risking that much? If you want to buy the part just buy it and if you have yet to develop trust with the vendor just make sure to use a payment option with a paper trail.

I often buy used equipment so as not to ruin myself. In fact the IBM components are top quality.Bondi wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 11:16 amHi there. Re: A question about an online seller in US
Overall I'm happy with this seller. But the NOS LCD panel that I received was degraded due to age (and I suspect due to storage conditions). I got my refund right away.
