IDE to SATA Adapters for old Desktops

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Sat Dec 16, 2017 5:28 pm

Witch adapter is the best for first gen Pentium 4 and Pentium III ect. I am going to be installing a new SATA HDD in my IBM NetVista X41 All In One and has a first Gen Pentium 4 so there is no SATA ports.

I am looking at this, a simple adapter. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 90839G1609

Or this a PCI SATA Adapter 4 port witch maybe good if I decide to upgrade its basic old IDE CD-ROM drive to a SATA DVD so it will need 2 SATA ports. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... -_-Product

The current 40GB IDE HDD is dead as I can here the arm inside clicking back and forth.

I was debating on installing Windows 7 Ultimate on this or try Windows 10 Pro but I think Pentium 4 HT Prescott is required to run 10 at the last gen Pentium 4.
