EU GDPR/DSGVO no more concert and parties pictures

#1 Post by Puppy » Mon May 07, 2018 4:39 am

The new General Data Protection Regulation in EU brings a lot of surprises. While it does not solve sensitive data privacy breach by government organisations, it brings many limitations to everyday life. For instance, at least in Germany, you can no longer publish photos of people from concerts and other events, except the performers.

I attend many small concerts organized by music fans or non-profit organizations because the particular scene is too small anyway to make a big money by these events. Having concert/party pictures on social media is natural part of these events for a long time. If someone had problem with his/her picture published (which happens very rarely), there is always simple way to ask to remove it.

Now one of important and natural aspects of these events is ruined by just another stupid EU regulation that completely mistargets the real issue
