Microsoft Core OS is ready for circular screens

#1 Post by Puppy » Tue Sep 25, 2018 5:03 am

Laptop manufactures do their best to "innovate" products using the most stupid ideas. Among crappy keyboards, extra-wide 21:9 screens, super thin & weak and throttling machines, there is yet another possible innovation waiting for us - circular screens :D Microsoft is ready for this https://old.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comm ... in_action/ so expect new super innovative circular ThinkPad in the future :D

FYI: circular = round as a circle.
No round screen (yet)!
In this off-the-wall idea the rectangular screen rotates while the picture stays remains in the same orientation.

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Well IIRC that "Core" OS is a light Windows, so quite obviously it's aimed at the so-called "smartwatches" ; which happen to sport circular screens.

Yeah, the title is a bit misleading; I think "rotating screen" is more accurate.

Completely pointless? No. The next best thing in the world? Also no.

I could see this being some kind of interesting GUI element on a smartphone over a desktop, where you actualy can/regularly rotate the screen.
