Thinkpad does not recognize power source
Thinkpad does not recognize power source
Hello,
I have a problem with my Thinkpad 600E. When it is ON and connected to an AC adapter (without battery), the computer thinks that it is connected to the battery. When I go the the power management program through Control Panel and swith "Power Source" to "AC" manually, it goes back again to "Battery". It is not a problem if thre is no battery, but with the battery and AC it seems that the computer tends to drain battery.
I have Windows Me.
Does anybody has any idea how to fix this?
thanks,

Are you using IBM's Battery Maximizer/Power Management untility?
If not try downloading it here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-44226
This has generally solved some of the weird power issues I have had with the 600Es.

Changing Power Source to Battery just allows you to set what happens when on battery power. It does not tell the system that it is running from a battery.
The system tells YOU if it's running on battery, but not by allowing you to set the AC power settings by default.
If you bring up the battery meter, it will tell you what the current power source is.

Machine-Project: 750P, 600X, T42, T60, T400, X1 Carbon Touch
The battery meter tells two contradictory things:
1)Power Sourse: "Battery"
2)Battery: "Absent"
It all started when I left the battery with the AC on, and it got very, very hot. So, I guess, the battery died, but it seems that something in the computer died, too. Or that something is just very, very ill.
