Re: How to prevent sleep when lid is closed for win98?
I'm pretty sure that this is the same in Win98 as it is in Win2000 and WinXP.
Go to the Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Power Options and then click on the "Advanced" tab. There should be an option for what to do when you close the ld of your laptop. In XP it is a drop-down box, but in Win98 it might be a simple checkbox. If you can't find that setting, then let us know and I will double-check on one of my Win98 laptops.

On my Win98SE setup, it's not on the Advanced tab, it's on a "Power Options Properties" tab labeled "Suspend/Resume Options". One of the check boxes is "Will not suspend even if LCD is closed".

Thanks for the follow-up, Neil. That sounds right. I thought it was some kind of checkbox in Win98, but I'd forgotten the different tabs.
