Slow acquiring WiFi signal

#1 Post by AirScooter » Wed Apr 12, 2023 6:23 am

Hi Folks,
Has there been any conversation about the time it takes for ThinkPads to acquire a WiFi signal. I'm running an E15 Gen2, which I know isn't a rocket, and I wait as long as 4 min for the WiFi signal to be acquired. Even then I have to force it to load a signal manually at times.
The modem is fine and all the other equipment in the house functions normally. I am running "Fast Boot" but it doesn't seem to help!!!!!!
What's up with that????
Dave

Check what wifi card you have, if you have a Realtek card, dump it and get one of these:
- Intel Wireless-AC 9560, 802.11ac Dual Band 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.1, M.2 card (good)
- Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201, 802.11ax 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.1, M.2 Card (best)
If you run it with the correct drivers, it should pick up the signal in a few seconds.

Or maybe you should look for a better internet supplier than T-Mobile and/or get a better router?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
