Is wifi whitelisted on e490 with i7-8565U

My Wifi adapter is physically broken on an e490.
On AliExpress a seller claims that Lenovo disabled whitelist after 5th gen CPUs.
Can anyone please confirm this?

There are many reports of newer Thinkpads like the T480s being upgraded to WiFi 6, T14 Gen 1 AMD, etc without needing any BIOS mods.
IMO there's a good chance that your e490 has no whitelist for WiFi cards.
