2tb nvme drive options for X1-C gen 4

I would like to replace my 256 Gb NVMe drive with a 2 TB drive. The older recomendations (4 years ago) were to stay with a single sided 2028 SSD drive to keep the height of the card as thin as possible. The samsung pm 961 (1Tb card) fit well in one of my 4th gen X1C laptops. Has anyone had success using a 2Tb drive? The Intel 660p 2Tb is reportedly 2.38 mm high (per new egg). The samsung 960pro (2tb) is reportedly 2.54 mm high. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS PLACED A 2TB NVME DRIVE IN THEIR XC1- 4th Gen. Thanks

Don't have a X1-CG4 but an X1EG1.
Lenovo originally posted that the X1EG1 accepts up to a 1Tb m.2 NVME but the X1EG1 does accept a 2Tb m.2 NVME card.
The card must be single-sided as the slot can't fit a dual sided card.

I installed the Inland Premium 2Tb m.2 2280 NVMe SSD, which is single sided, into my X1EG1's secondary m.2 slot which fit nicely.
The laptop includes a Samsung 512Gb m.2 NVME SSD in the primary slot. Now I have a good 2Tb storage drive while the original drive contains only the OS and other software.

Inland is MicroCenter's private label brand and the card is made by Phison and Toshiba, 2 reputable names in the chip industry.
Lots of very good reviews on the Inland card and relatively more affordable than the name branded cards. You don't get the 'brand name' but you also don't pay for it either. The chip performs well. For the majority of PC users, Not gamers, the Inland card performs well enough that it can be used as a primary drive or a secondary storage drive.

Would be very interested to know if X1C4 (X1-C Gen 4) or X1E1 (X1 Extreme Gen 1) can use a 2 TB NVMe "2280" PCIe SSD also!
(Unfortunately we do not own any 2 TB NVMe "2280" PCIe SSD at the moment. We are hoping to leapfrog to 4 TB SSD later on--but that's another story!)

We use OEM 1 TB SSD for both X1C4 (X1-C Gen 4) and X1E1 (X1 Extreme Gen 1) which came with our ThinkPad purchase (PM961 and PM981 Samsung SSD respectively).
Both of these 1 TB SSD's can be used interchangeably between our X1C4 and X1E1 units!

Pleased to advise everyone that X1C4 (X1 Carbon 4th Gen) can indeed support 2 TB PCIe NVMe "2280" SSD.

For what it's worth, the brand is Samsung 970 Evo Plus.

Did ThinkPad X1C4 USB thumbstick Win10 product recovery on this SSD.

This particular SSD runs quite hot though!
