X1 Carbon Gen 11
X1 Carbon Gen 11
My X1C Gen 11 arrived and so far seems pretty standard.
I've come from a X1 Yoga Gen 4, and prior to that a X1C Gen 3.
The keyboard and finish seems less glossy and more matt finish compared to the X1 Yoga, which felt more metal in construction.
I got the non-touch OLED screen which is quite nice but the resolution of 2800x1800 is a little less than the Yoga which was 3840x2160 and touchscreen. I can't really tell the difference in resolution on a screen this size, and I never used the touch screen except when using the pen to sign documents. Viewing angles and brightness are good.
The keyboard feels the same as the previous models - my fingers aren't noticing any change in the layout when typing.
It's hard to gauge battery life, as I'm comparing it to a 4yo machine with a degraded battery, but so far I can get through half a day, but will see what it's like when playing a movie.
Overall, it just feels like the same laptop, just with the familiar keyboard, trackpoint etc which is the experience I want, but with 32gb of RAM and i7-1370P CPU which is noticeably faster on my large spreadsheets.
Fire away with any questions - the biggest change is getting used to Windows 11. I could have downgraded or reinstalled my own version of Windows 10, but figured I'd give it a chance.

Re: X1 Carbon Gen 11
How are you finding the battery life?
Re: X1 Carbon Gen 11
I want to know too! I've heard only bad comments about such configuration. But since Gen 12 is going to repeat the buttonless Trackpoint / clickpad nightmare again, it'll become the last usable generation and that, the best configuration you can get.

For the sake of ecology I donated all my classic Thinkpads.

Re: X1 Carbon Gen 11
As a user of X1C with OLED myself, the screen is matte. However i chose the middle processor i7 1355U instead the higher one, worry that the thin chassis cannot handle the heat. So far no issues with the heat, i only notice only bottom left side near the screen (where the charger is plugged in) is always warm.
