#1 Post by _casualindica_ » Sun Jul 28, 2024 4:08 am

Is it normal to get only 2-3 hours of battery backup. Purchased in November 2022.

Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1255U 1.70 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
Device ID D0BA783D-4A6A-4DCC-BDBD-C44331A5AAB1
Product ID 00355-60765-54437-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Please help and advise!

Intel 12th gen processors have poor power efficiency.

You probably need to adjust boost settings with tools like Throttlestop (which I'm not that familiar with).
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

The biggest battery drainer on any laptop is the screen, so the lower the brightness, the better the battery life. If you've got one of the higher resolution screens, they're known to deplete the battery more quickly. Batteries do degrade over time as well and this one is now almost two years old. I had the ultra bay battery for my R60 and it was down to less than 50% capacity after six months. You might want to check the number of battery cycles and what the remaining battery capacity is. Was the runtime this low when you bought it:?
