Hello fellow X1 Carbon owners, I need your help!
Unfortunately, my beloved X1 Carbon suffered some damage, and the screen has cracked. Now, I’m searching for a replacement and could really use your advice.
I currently have a 4K non-touch panel with a 40-pin connector, but I’m considering replacing it with a more economical FHD display. I have a few questions:
Can I replace the 4K display with an FHD one?
Do I need to change the connector or use an adapter to fit a 30-pin screen? Alternatively, has anyone come across an FHD panel with a 40-pin connector, or at least a QHD option?
I’m concerned about the voltage difference between the 4K and FHD panels. Could installing the FHD screen potentially damage the laptop if the voltage isn’t compatible?
Additionally, my current display is non-touch, and I’d like to keep it that way. I’ve seen 40-pin options for touch screens, QHD, and of course 4K, but I’d prefer FHD because the 4K screen drains the battery too quickly. I’m also a bit tired of the glare from the current screen.
I’ve also read that some people managed to fit displays from other 14" laptops into the Carbon. If anyone knows about compatible alternatives, I would really appreciate the suggestions.
Here’s some information about my laptop:
Model: 20U9-0046MX
Serial: PF2C1SMF
I haven’t replaced a laptop screen before, so any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the Forum.
FHD requires a different LCD and a different LCD-cable from UHD.
Download the HMM service manual here.
It shows you how to take it apart/reassemble.
For parts, go here.
Lenovo DISPLAY,14",FHD,Anti-Glare,IPS
Part No: 01YN154
(30-pin Boe NE140FHM-N61)
Cable-Coax,LCD,FHD
Part No: 5C10V28089
(30-pin)
Screens from e.g. T14s, T490s and T495s also fit.
When you order, make sure you get the REAL screen, NOT one described as "compatible"!
