Hi folks,
My ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11's screen is broken, with the internal display showing vertical colored lines and large blacked-out areas. It is completely unusable, but the laptop otherwise powers on normally and works fine with an external monitor. I’m hoping someone here can help me confirm the correct LCD connector type before I order a replacement panel. Lenovo Parts Lookup only lists the full LCD assembly, which is quite expensive, and only replacing the LCD panel (not the entire top-lid assembly) would be $500 cheaper.
Below are my laptop details:
Model: ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 (14") – Black (Carbon Fibre + Magnesium)
Machine Type: 21HM-002DUS
Current LCD assembly FRU: 5M11H62546
Original display: 14" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touch, 100% sRGB, 400 nits, 60Hz, LED backlight, Low Blue Light
From what I understand, this model uses a 40-pin video connector, but I cannot confirm whether it is 40-pin, 1” (25mm) eDP Touch, or 40-pin Narrow, 0.79” (20mm). Before I order a panel, I’d really appreciate confirmation from anyone who knows definitively if FRU 5M11H62546 corresponds to the 25mm 40-pin connector or the 20mm narrow version.
Thank you very much for any insight!

Welcome to the Forum.
Get the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) from here.
Also install the HWiNFO64 program and run it.
It will tell you exactly which screen from which Manufacturer you have.
Look for the specs of that screen on https://www.panelook.com and it will tell you what cable it needs.
You need to open the lid itself to only replace the LCD itself and/or find out what LCD you have.
Follow this Youtube for how to do that, there is no info about it in the HMM.
Have fun!
PS: Let us know what screen (Make/Model) is in there.
