A thinkpad X310 or X320 based on forthcoming Sandy Bridge CPU's would have been a real sleeper as a performer:

It would have been one worthy machine to get. I'll take mine with i7-2.9GHz turbo with a 17 watt CPU+GPU thermal envelop. Too bad it will never happen.
