IBM Ideapad 320S can't boot up issue (urgent)

#1 Post by ridigshin » Wed Jan 01, 2025 7:12 pm

my idealpad S320 can't boot up

- connected to power adapter and here below show the LED lights up (even I disconnect the CIUYA_DC in Cable from the motherboard)

- the battery was fine, as it run out of battery and and sure the notebook is running fine with but CAN'T CHARGE USING DCadatper,

- not sure where is the problem as seems the power adapter can pass electricity to the notebook (LED light on)? but in some how what component failed that don't allow to boot up and can't charge up?

- any expert can give immediate advice and help? much appreciated on that, many thansk

To be honest, your description of the issue isn't great-- "Can't boot up" is vague.

Does the laptop power up when you press the power button?
Does the LCD backlight turn on?
Does the Lenovo BIOS/UEFI boot logo appear?
Does it try to boot Windows, but fails? Does it boot loop, or does an error message appear?

What are the specs of the laptop?
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

thanks for reply

answer below

Does the laptop power up when you press the power button? not able to power up,
Does the LCD backlight turn on? no, screen never turn on
Does the Lenovo BIOS/UEFI boot logo appear? yes, not able to power up, blank screen,
Does it try to boot Windows, but fails? Does it boot loop, or does an error message appear?, not able to power up, not sure it's power adapter issue of else issue, the notebook was able to run properly with battery, but once battery used up, notebook can't power up again when connecting to power adapter, but battery LCD lights at the side as shown in the pictures can light up , but never able to to power up, is that the fault on power adapter? i don't have another lenovo notebook as a spare to test the power adatper.

thanks for help

First of all: your IdeaPad 320S is made by Lenovo (not IBM).

That laptop has a 20V, 45W or 65W (check yours) charger with connector size: 4.0mm*1.7mm round tip.
If needed, you can get a replacement in e.g. Shopee or Lazada or Caroussel.
If you have a Multimeter, check the charger's output connector for 20V, PLUS=inside, GROUND=outside.

Have you tried another wall outlet?

thanks for reply, sorry for misleading, it's lenovo.

i don't have multimeter to test,

but the notebook can be turned on (w/o) adapter plugged-in, but i couldn't charge it up and now battery run out and i'm not sure it's adapter/battery/power jack issue...and unfortunately i don't have other adapter / spare lenovo adatper to try. thanks for helping
