Actual mSATA performance in a T430/T530? Post your speeds
Actual mSATA performance in a T430/T530? Post your speeds
I dropped in a 128GB msATA
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820211663)
in to my T430. I am getting r/w speeds of about 250 MB/s which is fast but only about half of what its specified for (550 MB/s).
Both ATTO and CrystalDiskMark gave the same results.

Has anyone else got an mSATA and can you post your r/w speeds?

It is because the mSATA port on the T430/T530 is SATA II spec. The drive supports up to SATA III spec.
*Edit: Is that your review on the newegg website? You even acknowledge that you have a SATA II spec, and then you say you deduct an egg for it not reaching 550MB/sec. Is this the twilight zone or something?

I fully understand that the T430 mSATA is SATA II vs. SATA III for the internal HDD, but is this really the difference? I mean can't SATA II do like 3GB/s?jayton4 wrote:It is because the mSATA port on the T430/T530 is SATA II spec. The drive supports up to SATA III spec.

uurg..math now? still would be informative and interesting to see actual speeds from the msata connection.
Re: Actual mSATA performance in a T430/T530? Post your speeds
Well, the important thing is that you gave the drive 4 stars, but gave yourself 5 stars on technical level...

Re: Actual mSATA performance in a T430/T530? Post your speeds
That's about right for SATA II speeds. You won't see anything faster until you go to SATA III. Do the right thing and change your review. Blame it on the mSATA port but don't blame it on the drive.
Re: Actual mSATA performance in a T430/T530? Post your speeds
For some reason that I cannot recall I thought that the difference between SATA II and SATA III would not make a big difference. Note- the original review has been updated.
Re: Actual mSATA performance in a T430/T530? Post your speeds
The real benefit of a SSD is the latency, which won't change much whether it's SATA I, II or III. There won't be any difference unless you're using applications that put a heavy load on the controller, which typical notebook usage does not do.
