Is this screen any good? -- LP140WF9

#1 Post by euless » Thu May 29, 2025 12:03 am

Hi

I just upgrade my T440P's old TN (1600x900) to FHD. Mostly because I am getting more seriously into photography and want use my T440p for photo editing.

Here are my observations:
(1) very bright
(2) my eyes don't get tired looking at the screen anymore
(3) my home videos of a local parade looks fine
(4) my photos look nice, but black color seems too black

Item (4) is bothering me a little bit. In alot of my photos taken with my Nikon DSLR, the deep blacks of the screen look awful (unnatural). Like picture of a person with black hair or black tee shirt. Even shadows can look too dark. Looks unnatural and unrealistic to me. This is strange because these photos look fine on the old TN screen.

The back of the screen says "LG Display" , "LP140WF9", "MADE IN CHINA".

Is this a good screen? What do you think?

Thanks.

Can you be more specific, i.e. what version xx, as in LP140WF9-SPxx.
My trusty old T440p has a LP140WF3-SPD1 FHD screen, which is still perfect.

Maybe you can calibrate the screen with an ICC/ICM profile.
Here is the ICM for my above LP140WF3-SPD1

Here's a comparison between mine and yours: https://www.panelook.com/modelcompare.p ... 5943,68376

Haven't seen any ICC/ICM profiles for your screen, but maybe this helps: https://www.permajet.com/icc-profiles/p ... -profiles/

Yes, it is a very good and very bright screen. And you need mounting brackets to install it on T440 series, like these ones:
