T470 touchscreen
T470 touchscreen
A while back, I put together a rather nice T470 from parts of two dead ones. I ended up with a system that has a Core i5-7200U and a FHD IPS display.
I recently had a chance to pick up an IVO R140NWF5 R1 touchscreen (also FHD and IPS) at an unbeatable price. Coincidentally, my parts donor T470 had the 40-pin touchpad cable. I installed the IVO screen into the extra housing and swapped the whole thing over to the running system. The display itself is lovely and working very well, but the touchscreen is not being recognized by Windows 11.
According to everything I can see the IVO R140NWF5 R1 should be supported on a Lenovo system. Assuming that I don't have a bad touchscreen cable, is there anything that I can check that might have disabled the touchscreen. Also, would replacing the WiFi card with a Realtek RTL8852CE card cause any issues with the touchscreen?
Thanks...

Re: T470 touchscreen
Check if you have these drivers installed: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/prod ... nkpad-t470
Question: you say you have a 40-pin touchpad cable, really?

Oops, typo. I meant touchscreen.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Dec 23, 2025 1:48 amCheck if you have these drivers installed: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/prod ... nkpad-t470

As for that firmware update... I've tried to install it. The process seems start, but then the dialog disappears with no indication of success for failure. I'm wondering if the IVO screen requires a different package.

Re: T470 touchscreen
Did the 'old' touchscreen still work?
If you have W10, instead of a Realtek POS, get an Intel AX200 or AX210.

Re: T470 touchscreen
Here's the thing. I pieced this T470 together from parts of two. One came with an FHD non-touch screen. The other originally had a touchscreen, but the panel had been stripped out before I got it (along with RAM, SSD, etc.); that one also has the IR camera.
So, in other words, I have no idea of the state of the touchscreen hardware prior to my getting it. TBH, I can't be sure that the touchscreen portion of this screen isn't the problem.
The Realtek has been working fine for me. I did upgrade my T450 a while back with the AX210... maybe it's time to swap them.
