We have issue with SSD on T430s frequently since we use that model. We are using Windows 7 from recovery system of T430s, then we installed McAfee Endpoint Encryption for PC on that machine.
The SSD Lenovo use in T430s are Micron C400-MTFDDAK256MAM
On the 1st T430s laptop
- The first time issue with laptop after 1 month used, laptop cannot boot into Windows 7, Windows system files corrupted. Run diagnostic of T430s "Stop smart short selftest FAILED 10s". The SSD had returned to Lenovo service center (IBM Service center in Vietnam) and received the replaced one after 3 days.
- Next one month after, the second time laptop cannot boot into Windows 7 and Windows system files corrupted again, we ran Chkdsk to fixed the corrupted files and the laptop working again however when we ran diagnostic of T430s have the same issue as the 1st time. SSD returned to service center again and wait for 3 days to receive the new one.
On the 2nd T430s laptop still use the same SSD brand and model as 1st T430s laptop
- The laptop working well after 3 months, on last Wed 10 Apr 2013. The SSD suddenly cannot detected by laptop, take out the SSD to plugin to another laptop still not work.
The SSD have to return to service center again and waiting for 3 days for shipping due the service center claimed that SSD cannot fail easily and they don't have the spare one to replace.
Have anyone have issue with SSD, Micron SSC C400 like us? How bad are these SSD use in Lenovo's laptops?

Thinkpad T430s SSD really bad
Re: Thinkpad T430s SSD really bad
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry you are having SSD issues.
I am using the same Lenovo SSD FRU 04Y2133 in my W530 without issue.
I am not using McAfee for encryption. Instead I enabled in the BIOS the hard drive password. As far as I know this enables hard drive encryption.
