Size/thickness/finish. P has a media drive while the S doesn't. The former is more of a conventional laptop while the latter is closer to an ultrabook if you will.

No.

The S has an internal three-cell battery plus a plug in battery. The plug in battery always discharges first, so you could swap the plug in battery while using the internal battery. The P uses a more conventional battery. I guess to me it would boil down to how much portability you need. The S is a little more than a pound lighter, so if you carry it around a lot, that would be a plus. If you're only occasionally taking it out, you'll probably save some money getting the P.

Thanks.

Final advice is needed from Thinkpad Gurus.

The T440P model which is sold in India comes with 1368x766 resolution.Strangely it remains the same for i7 version also.Where as the models found in ebay has 1600x900 to FHD.Shall I buy from ebay or stick to official Lenovo retail?

Last thing I guess the resolution thing can be upgraded to at least 1600x900 later if I opt for T440P.

If I buy T440P it will be 33$ costlier than the ebay's T440S.

Honestly, the only screen worth having on either of these is FHD LCD - 1920x1080.

If you can't get a *40 series with it where you are, looking into non-ThinkPad options might not be a bad idea...

My $0.02 only...

I bet this is temporary, because Lenovo India's site lists the T440p as having HD, HD+ and FHD options: http://shopap.lenovo.com/in/en/laptops/ ... ies/t440p/

I recommend you to call Lenovo India to ask when the FHD option will become available again.

T440s (and T440) have only one memory slot while T440p has two. T440s has memory soldered in addition to the slot.
