T530 no backlight after replacing screen.

#1 Post by NikkoCharger » Thu Mar 10, 2016 8:22 pm

Hey guys, I just replaced the screen on my T530 and after putting the new screen in the computer, the backlight doesn't work. The new screen isn't the problem as I took it out of a working donor computer. And I believe the cable works since its able to produce an image on the screen.

This leaves me to believe that I may have done something to the motherboard, I've seen a tutorial on how to fix this issue on the T400 (link below) but the fuse locations of backlight fuses are in a different location so I'm kinda stuck.

Can give me some advice?

Just to make sure, did you plug in the LCD power connector, in addition to the lcd cable?

Was the donor machine also a ThinkPad?

Sounds like a blown fuse to me, but I can offer no wisdom when it comes to locations of the fuses on a T530 planar. It *should* be near the LCD cable entrance point, though.

Good luck.

The screen was a hand-me-down from my W530 (after I successfully manged to upgrade its screen). As for the T530, I'll probably end up swapping in a used W530 motherboard and selling it on ebay as seller refurbished.

IF you can post some clear images of the board back and front
Might be easier to tell you where the fuse is.
