ThinkPad L540 Touchpad and Trackpoint suddenly stop workin

Hi,

As specified in the subject I have a problem with the TouchPad and the Trackpoint, during the use both peripherals stop working but if I plug an external mouse this one work. I Tried Uninstalling the drivers but after the restart it automatically reinstall the driver. What can I do? I have installed Windows 10 Pro, that is officially supported.

I also have an L540. An interesting find on Lenovo's forum from someone with the same issue:
Problem traced to the touchpad ribbon cable - several tracks were found to be open. Confirmed by swapping out cable from my T440s. As an interesting sidenote, the trackpoint will not work if the touchpad is physically disconnected, despite them being on separate ribbon cables.
Might be worth checking.
