Hotrod Thinkpad Yoga x380?

I've got a Thinkpad Yoga x380 with 16 gigs of ram. I've also got a couple of 8gig Yoga x380s.

But the big difference is that according to HWInfo, the 16gig laptop is running the Core i5-8350U (1.7gHz) Kirby Lake CPU to its turbo speed of 3600mHz at idle.

That's compared to my two 8gb Yoga x380s that run the same CPU at 800 mHz at idle.

According to HWInfo, the only differences between the computers are that the 16gig computer is overclocking the CPU. Every other factor (other than the amount of ram) is identical.

Looking in the BIOS, I don't see anything relating to an overclocking parameter. I've got CPU performance settings in both the BIOS (same BIOS version) and Windows set identically in all three computers.

Can anyone guess why there is a difference?

Running Windows on that X380? Check the power profile, maybe it's set to "Performance" instead of "Balanced". Also check the CPU usage, maybe a background process is using up an entire CPU core.

Task Manager shows the load at idle (no volitional applications loaded) running 3-5%. The power profile in both BIOS and Windows is identical in the 16gig computer as in the 8gig computers.

Yet, the clock of the 16gig computer is pegged continuously at 3600mHz. The clock speeds other two computers vary according to momentary load, sometimes popping up to 3600mHz, but not staying there for more than a moment.
