L13 Gen1 Trackpad is broken.

#1 Post by Leudast » Fri Nov 01, 2024 6:50 pm

Hi all,

I have a thinkpad L13 gen 1 and the trackpad is god awful. 10% of the time it works beautifully, then it seems like only portions of it work. Like massive dead zones (that move around), stuttering responsiveness, mostly unusable.

I’ve tried reinstalling trackpad drivers, but to no avail.

Is this a common problem? Is there a solution? Can I install a new trackpad? If so where to buy?

Thank you!

Hello My Friend -

Yes, the touch pad is replaceable. I might suggest booting it to Linux, which you can do with a USB drive and don't need to install it, just to see if the problem replicates itself. If yje touch pad works normally it may be a Windows issue, otherwise the hardware is more likely at fault.

You could post a thread in the Marketplace forum here to see if anyone has an extra they're looking to sell. Other than that I'd look at the usual suspects for a replacement - Amazon and eBay. Good luck and welcome.
