Is it possible to add the Tablet / Pen portions of the Windows XP Tablet Edition to a regular (non-tablet) Windows XP install?
The XP Tablet edition is a royal pain to re-install. I want to set up a Thinkpad X60t with it in a way that I can easily do so again in the future. It would be nice to have a DVD with the whole thing ready to be reinstalled without all of the telephone activation hassles and long-distance charges. If only it would install like regular XP only needing the product key and no phone hassles (and who knows how long MS will keep allowing activations of old products like this)! Or even like regular XP and then apply some patch(es) to install the Tablet components would be easier than the Tablet reinstallation process. Maybe some Slipstream option?
Has anyone else figured out how to do something like this?
Thanks!

Install that OS exactly the way you want, with all updates, trimmings and extras and without any bloatware.
Then use the likes of Acronis TrueImage, Clonezilla, Macrium, etc. to take an image and store that on your NAS or spare desktop HD.
Next time you need a new HD/SSD, just put that image on the new drive, and you're all done in no time at all.
