Hello. New here so please bear with me.
I couldn't locate a search function to search the existing posts and haven't had much success googling for a solution to the following problem.
I'm having a problem with the touchpad/trackball and keyboard on an R52 running Win XP Pro. Some background which could be unrelated to the current problem. I recently changed one of the memory cards which fixed a blank screen problem. Worked ok for a few days other than it wouldn't come out of a low power state in a consistent state so got around that by turning it off every time I was done using it. Now it won't recognize any internal or external UI device (keyboard/touchpad/trackball/external usb/ps/2 mouse). All the devices work with the Access IBM OS and I've partitioned the drive and installed Ubuntu so I've access to the files.
But can't do anything with XP anymore. I can't re-install XP as I don't have the installation disk - lost it while moving. My question is - is there a way to fix this ? Perhaps reinstall the XP drivers - is this possible without being in XP ?
Any suggestions about fixing the problem coming out of 'Sleep' mode will also be appreciated.
Thanks very much.

Welcome to the forum.
Bookmark this: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q ... as_qdr=all
It's a Google-search, specially created for this forum by our mod Harryc.
To get the R52 back on track, the easiest way might be to get hold of (a copy of) the Restore CDs.
Lenovo sells these, but cheaper would be to place a WTB in the Market forum. I'm sure there are forum members in the UK who have this. Cheaper than have it shipped from the US. PM me if you get stuck.
You'd need to tell us the 7-char. Type/Model code from the bottom, looks like: 1849-4WU and/or tell us if you have ATI or integrated Intel graphics.
Are you saying that in Ubuntu everything UI works fine, but not in XP?
If you have problems in both XP and Ubuntu, check the UK website in my signature, you might have a Southbridge problem.

Re: Touchpad/trackball/keyboard problem with R52/Win XP
Hi, thanks very much for the response and the search url.
Product type is 1860-A35. Fairly certain it's got an ATI display card. Problem exists only in XP Pro.
I'm leaning towards backing up the hard disk and installing Ubuntu as the sole OS if there's no easy solution - will have a look in the Markets forum as well.
Thanks.
