Hi gang,
I bought one of Xue Yao's wonderful pre-modded X2100's a long time ago, and for a variety of reasons didn't get around to setting it up until recently. The hardware all seems like it works, except I still have some odd issues with the (new-old-stock genuine Lenovo 9-cell) battery. The ME hasn't killed itself (yet?). I've tried flashing to the latest BIOS given here: https://www.xyte.ch/support/51nb-x210-x ... 0-bios-ec/ - the machine had been on for much less than 200 hours when I did the flash. I used flashrom on Linux (I'd wanted to use Intel FIT, but it wouldn't boot the USB drive I'd dd'ed the ISO onto). Flashrom reported everything OK, so I unplugged power and battery for a couple of minutes and then booted it up again. I'm still experiencing some strange battery issues: It seems to overcharge the battery a bit, at least according to the relevant files in my /sys/class/power_supply dir for the battery, and tools like acpi won't recognize that the battery has discharged to under 100% for a long while. I've also had it discharge *a lot* more power from the battery while in S3 sleep than I'd expect.
My question is: Do any of you know any way I can actually verify that I have the latest BIOS (and EC)? For example, any numbers or names I could look for in the BIOS setup menu, or anything useful I could do with dmidecode?
(I've contacted Yao himself, but apparently he hasn't responded to email or messages for a while)
