Is xytech (xyte.ch) responding to anybody?

#1 Post by exander » Sat Oct 08, 2022 9:41 am

I got x2100 motherboard, that stopped working after a week and I can't get hold of xytech for since June when I reported it to him.

I've tried reaching him by email and Reddit PM several times over the last month, but no response to me either. He was super helpful a year or so ago when I last got in touch with him.

(His webpage mentions that he's a student, so I'm guessing he's probably seasonally very busy, and I can imagine running his business on the side might sometimes get pretty stressful when he has a big workload from his studies!)

On https://www.xyte.ch/2022/06/30/t700-other-updates/, he mentions that he's been conscripted into military service - perhaps this is keeping him from running XYTech at the moment. At any rate, I hope he's doing well.

That most likely explains it, I hope he is doing well too.

Yes, 4th batch, only a week or so of use, don't remember exactly. I saw a graphic glitch when opening 3D web page and freez, rebooted, it repeated and after another round, it won't boot at all.

My 4th batch motherboard also is not responding. No power, same thing after a graphic glitch. The case lights (moon/battery etc) also no longer light up on mine. I tried a new top lid and tried the motherboard in a new case. If I plug in a usb c charger there’s a clicking noise as if it’s trying to boot.

I replaced mine with a 5th batch motherboard from Jacky, he posted me it extremely fast. I’d still like to get the 4th batch working.

Do you have contact with Jackie right now ? Or was it some time ago?

I am trying to reach him but he does not appear to be responding via lcdfans email.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly. I also had some troubles with X2100 board, finally gave up on it - and last time around it was showing the symptoms you are describing, just no lights.

Exactly the same symptom here. (I started a thread about mine.)

Sure would be nice if this had an easy answer like "replace ZD1."

If it was some simple board issue, I may fix mine myself, but I haven't heard from xyte.ch since, which is quite some time. And because I had the machine only a week or so, I expect it to be handled in some manner. This sounds to me like a manufacturing issue.

Got last reply from him around May'2022.

Before he was really nice and pretty much always responded on Faceboook. I got x2100 from him in January 2021; one of the USB 3.0 ports (near the wifi switch) was dead, and the power consumption seemed a little too high (with all the tweaks 7-8W with no load). He said it might be a CPU / MB issue and offered to change my board immediately. Eventually I've decided to keep this one (I definitely don't want him to replace it out of his own funds), in a hope that somewhere in 2023-2024 I might get an x2200 from him, we were discussing this new project of his a year or so ago. Now the hope is slowly fading away...

FWIW I get roughly the same input power (~7-8W) with the latest BIOS he posted, but no OS-side tweaks at all. I remember there was a thread somewhere here about optimizing the power consumption on the X210 that knocked off another couple of watts. I haven't tried applying it to the X2100, but I imagine some of those tweaks should work too.
