Buying Advice for secondhand P15 Gen 1 i7-10th Gen 64GB RAM 512 ssd ($650 usd)

Background: Hello, I've previously been using a lenovo ideapad y700, I bought it about 6 years ago before I knew about the hinge issue and it broke once a few years ago damaging the screen and just one year ago it broke again after I just replaced the screen. I'm not sure if the hinge broke because I used a laptop stand and angled it so the screen is vertical and left the laptop open for many months and maybe dust too.

I heard that thinkpads are more durable with hopefully lesser hinge issue. Would the thinkpad hinge break too if I used a laptop stand and left it open on an incline with the screen almost vertical for many months? I mainly use an external monitor as my primary monitor.

I saw from my local online marketplace that there was a listing for Lenovo ThinkPad P15 i7-10th Gen 64GB RAM 512gb SSD, the seller owns a second hand computer shop and you can walk in to collect the laptop.

It cost about $650 usd. I would like to ask if this is a valid price for these specs or it's too cheap, and fishy.

I plan to use it for mobile app development, so I'm worried that 512gb might not be enough if it has Windows, VS code, Android Studio + Android Emulator.

I searched online that this model should have an extra memory slot, should I consider an addition 512gb or 1TB?

Also I remember on this forum, there was something about the Thunderbolt charging issue, should I be worried about it for this model?

Any advice or tips to look out for when buying secondhand thinkpads would be greatly appreciated!

I preferably wouldn't want to factory reset the laptop as I'm not savvy / don't trust myself to install Windows and related apps. Also it would seem like a hassle. :<
I really don't know much about computers sorry.

$650 is fair price for a laptop you walk out of the store with.

I paid $1100 to have a P71 shipped to me, of similar class to P15 but older generation, it's also a workstation model.

I have not heard of hinge issues being a problem with P15. aside from a few exceptions, ThinkPads are generally durable as they are the business class. P-series particularly is the professional workstation model. 15" is generally built better. a lot of work into the P15 specficially, it is a redesigned version of P50 series, which was already good, but P15 is better.

512GB storage may seem low however you can expand the storage.

P15's PSREF (Specsheet) says it has two spots for m2 2280 SSD.

Lenovo offered up to 2TB in each slot.

So you should be able to add another drive with no problem.

For a little more money the seller may even upgrade the drive or drives for you.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply and advice!

Would the gen 1 P15 be an okay purchase?
Someone on reddit advised against getting gen 1 and instead get a gen 2 for more CPU performance but I'm having a hard time finding second hand P15 gen 2 in my area.
From what I found out is that gen 2 P15 uses 11th gen Intel while gen 1 P15 uses 10th gen.

My current ideapd y700 uses a 6th gen.

My colleague uses a Ryzen 5 5600H and from what I understand only a 12th cpu seems comparable to that ryzen cpu.
