P16 Gen 1 benchmark results

#1 Post by closetoreality » Wed Dec 21, 2022 3:03 pm

I have a P16 with a 12950HX and the A5500 dGPU. After receiving it I took initial R23 benchmarks, and it ranged from 18500-19500 depending on down time between runs. Keep in mind these are single run benchmarks.

Hate splitting open a laptop so soon, but I was anxious to see what they were using for thermal material on CPU and dGPU. I thought I recall seeing Legions were getting LM from factory, and some other models Honeywell PTM7950 state-changing pads.

I was pretty disappointed and surprised to see that Lenovo looks to be using the same old Shin-Etsu they have used in years past on many models (if not all?). I cleaned up the paste and applied PTM7950 to both CPU and dGPU.

R23 is now consistently hitting 22500-23150 depending on time between runs. Unfortunatley, I did not benchmark the dGPU before changing the thermal material. However, as of right now I am hitting 27,000 in FireStrike with the following breakdown:

Graphics Score: ~29,400 depending on run
Physics Score: ~36,500 depending on run

See screenshots below. If you have any questions on the P16 let me know I would be happy to try and help. Weird having a laptop that is literally benchmarking in desktop class.
