T14 Gen 2, Issues with RJ45 port, plug doesnt lock

#1 Post by orfeous » Thu Aug 15, 2024 9:29 am

Experiencing issues with my T14 Gen 2 Intel laptop.
The ethernet port does work but the plug on all ethernet cables does not lock to the port.
The little clip on the plug does not lock, or... it locks sometimes but the plug can be pulled on and the plug releases.

there are no fully "click" sound. I should say that there are no clip locking sound at all.
I have noticed that the port itself is at an slightly angle compared to the outher case. Dont know if thats normal or?

I have maybe used the port a handful of times so i dont know. I have not pushed in the cable hard so i cant imagine that i did something.

If i compare to one of my colleagues T15p model hes rj45 port are straight and the ethernet cable plugs locks in directly and with a click sound. He states that it locks to good so its hard to remove :)

Do you think the rj45 port needs to be replaced? ive seen in the service manual that it seems that it is an easy operational since the port is located at its own little pcb and connected via a flex cable. You need to remove the cpu fan and the screws to the ethernet module and youre done.

Can someone take pictures of their rj45 who has the same model as me?
And also do your ethernet cable plugs lock in and with a click sound?
