Thinkpad x60s not shutting down all the way from linux

I have an X60s I just picked up, and when running linux (32 bit since it's an L2400) and shutting down either from a gui menu or terminal, the screen and os turns off but the battery light stays on. I tried editing a grub configuration file like some other forum posts said, and Reset bios settings, but to no avail. Any idea what I could do?

How long did you wait before shutting it down manually (I assume you used the power button)?

I've tried shutting down immediately after boot, and waiting around 5 before shutting down. I've tried the power button and using the terminal and typing "shutdown now." After the screen goes dark, the fan stays on, the battery indicator light stays on, and the dock lights stay on, but the power button and dock eject button doesn't do anything. I have to hard shutdown and then turn the computer back on. I've also tried with the X60s not connected to the dock if that makes any difference

I seem to remember encountering this issue on either my X60s or X61 the last time I tried it a few months ago. I'll have to dig it out to run some tests.

Badly configured distro. What distro by the way?

Both Debian 12 32 bit and Arch Linux 32 bit have the issue, both fresh installed. I haven't tested windows or any other distros yet

Same problem here with an X60 with dead battery, dead backup battery, new 2.5 SATA SSD 240GB and Debían 12 i386.

I ended up librebooting the system, libreboot seemed to fix the issue since when I shutdown debian now, it actually turns off.
