I have a project of digitising all my grammophone records using a digitiser.
It feeds into the Thinkpad via a USB connection and I use Audacity. Now
Audacity takes its input from the Thinkpad's microphone instead of the USB.
I assume I have to turn off the microphone - how do I do that please? My OS
is Ubuntu Linux.

Turning microphone off
Re: Turning microphone off
I don't know Linux, but here's a suggestion:
1. Disable your microphone in the BIOS.
~Reboot your computer, enter your BIOS, and disable microphone from there.
eg: In my computer BIOS, it's under [Security]>>[I/O_Port_Access]
You can enable your microphone via BIOS also when needed!
