Here’s a photo of part of my homelab that has 3 ThinkCentre m75q Gen5 thin clients running a proxmox cluster, hosting a k8s cluster to run a website.
This is in a rough 10” custom 8020 aluminum rack structure, with back-mounted shelves and patch panels since not all pieces could clear the aluminum profile. There’s a mikrotik 2.5Gb switch below the computers, a UPS at the very bottom, and a raspberry pi connected to the display showing the website because why not
I also have 3 Dell Wyse clients running another instance of k8s to play around with separate staging/production instances of the website.
While this was all for learning how to configure k8s, Kafka, CI/CD pipelines, and develop horizontally scalable web services, this little workhorse is currently serving a website regularly used by my city’s Traffic Management Center to make realtime decisions for congestion mitigation.
Pretty fun project I figured I’d share!
