[solved] HotKeys not working in Windows 7
I just did a new install of Windows 7 onto a new SSD on my X61.
I did all the Windows Updates, and then proceeded with installing the Leonvo Drivers, which I've saved a copy from last time doing a fresh install which was in Dec 2011.
The HotKey Patch and HotKey Integration were both successfully installed. However, HotKeys are not working. Volume +/-, and screen brightness work but there is no ondisplay icon shown, so, therefore, the actual Windows 7 software isn't toggling these. As a result, things like the Fn F5 don't work, and I'm not able to toggle my Bluetooth on because of this.
Any idea? I checked the Lenovo site, and I tried downloading the latest version of the installer, which happens to be the same version as I already have. I did a full uninstall of it, reboot, and install of it again. No luck. I've done a Lenovo System Update 4, and it didn't find any pertinent update for the HotKeys.
This worked before on my prior Windows 7 HDD install. The only other thing I've changed since then is upgrade my BIOS to Middleton's version (to enable SATA 2 speeds).

Re: HotKeys not working in Windows 7
I noticed that there were three Lenovo services (Microphone Mute, HotKey, On Display) that were set to automatic but not starting on boot up. When I try to start them, they error out with error 1075: missing dependency. When you view dependencies, it shows no dependencies.
I did some searching and came across a thread that suggests that the Lenovo Power Management Driver is a dependency. I have just the Lenovo Power Management installed (I don't intend on using Lenovo's Power Management software, so didn't bother installing the second package that includes the driver). After installing the second package which includes the driver, the services are now starting and I can access FN F5 to toggle my bluetooth on.

Re: [solved] HotKeys not working in Windows 7
You are the man! Thanks for posting the solution. I ran into the same problem with my ThinkPad T420 and I never would have thought of that.
Re: [solved] HotKeys not working in Windows 7
I finally figured it out for my ThinkPad T420 but it was a little different, for any one having issues it seams to happen after updates for me and here is a solution. (for me at least)
To Get On-Screen Display, Microphone Mute Button, and Hotkey (Fn) function Working...
IMPORTANT!!! DO NOT RESTART UNTIL TO RESTART STEP !!!
STEP 1 - Uninstall All Dependancies in order (Lenovo Power Management Driver, then Lenovo
System interface driver (if available), then On screen display)
STEP 2 - Install PM (Power Magment) Driver (not manager!)
STEP 3 - Go to Run, type "services.msc" And Enable the Lenovo PM Driver
STEP 4 - Reinstall hotkey fetures driver.
STEP 5 - Go to Run, type "services.msc" And Enable the Lenovo Microphone Mute and Hotkey
Client Loader.
STEP 6 - Check the functions (Fn keys, microphone mute button, etc) If they work again
restart and make sure they still work!!!

Re: [solved] HotKeys not working in Windows 7
Thanks geekguy15. Your solution helped me perfectly.
Re: [solved] HotKeys not working in Windows 7
I had the issue of some hotkeys not working.
Tried
-Lenovo PM driver update
-audio drivers update
-keyboard drivers update
but no improvement.
What did it for me was the "Hotkey features integration drivers update for win10 64 bit" and all worked.
It is here:
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/in/en/prod ... /thinkpad-...
under Software & Utilities>Hotkey integration
After the install everything worked, but on digging further, found that "setapps" under C:\DRIVERS\HOTKEY\apps toggles the enabling and disabling of the hotkeys.
Also, good to check if the service TPHKLOAD, the hotkey loading client, was running (task manager>services)

Re: [solved] HotKeys not working in Windows 7
Apologies for Necroing but I'd like to offer my recent experience getting Hotkey Features to work on ThinkPad R60e running Windows Vista Ultimate X64:
Prereq: Install Vista
1. I downloaded Vista Ultimate With All Updates .iso,
2. Made bootable USB with Rufus,
3. Installed Vista Ultimate,
4. Verified the licensing table was in BIOS, installed the certificate, found an OEM Vista key, and commanded Vista to activate itself,
NEXT: Install softwares
5. Installed Power Manager v.6, by doing the trick to copy "Setup.exe" to "Setup - copy.exe" to bypass the arbitrary blacklist against Power Manager v.6 installing on anything other than Windows 7.
5a. This granted me a cute Power Manager widget for the Vista Sidebar.
6. Installed all VCRedists,
7. Unpacked Hotkey Features 3.81 and installed System Interface driver and others EXCEPT not On Screen Display and Full Screen Magnifier,
8. Unpacked Hotkey Features 2.xx from package 7kvu22ww.exe and installed On Screen Display and Full Screen Magnifier,
9. Installed Lenovo PM Device.
RESULTS:
* Fully functioning Hotkeys.
* Classic On Screen Display.
* Happiness.
