Why so many issues with the X1 Carbon?

#1 Post by sjahanmi » Sun Dec 15, 2013 1:58 pm

I was wondering if there is any insight as to why the X1 Carbon has had so many problems/technical glitches and issues? I ran a search on the Lenovo support forum for Carbon and it returned 900+ unique threads of people having different issues with their X1 Carbons. I'm curious because I'm considering getting the next iteration of the X1 Carbon (slated as the X3 I think) with 4th gen Haswell. I wonder if the problems could be due to the fact that the motherboards and other components are so small and crammed in to make space for the internal battery? I'm not an electrical engineer but I would think if the electrical components had more space to sprawl out like in the T440/T440s then they might perform better?

Because it's a popular laptop.

There are probably thousands of complaints online about the MacBook Pro. It's still a nice laptop.

I haven't heard of or seen anything indicating that the X1 Carbon has "so many" issues compared to any other laptop.

That and the X1 was a first of its kind for Lenovo. Always some bugs and issues to iron out for anything of that type don't matter if it's a computer, car or what have you.

People come to forums to complain in most cases.

Having been a part of LF since before it was opened to general public I'll say that I have yet to see a ThinkPad model that hasn't generated a plethora of complaints.

Don't take everything you read over there too seriously.
