Thinkpad T60 CPU Upgrade

Hello, I have problem to upgrade my CPU from Intel Core Duo T2500 to Intel Core 2 Duo T7200. After I on computer using T7200 it even didn't show the bios logo. Help!

A T7200 will work in a T60 very nicely. Either you have a bad CPU, BIOS needs to be updated to recognize the "newer" Core 2 CPU, bad install, or something got damaged during the install.

Put the old CPU back in. If it works as before then update the BIOS to the latest one available. Re-install the T7200 and it should work. If not then the T7200 is bad.

Thanks, I found the bios file. Because of some reason I can't bake my cd. Is there a way to use thumb drive to flash the bios?

Don't know I never tried doing that with this generation machine. It's pretty simple to burn a CD and you can do it from any machine. Your fancy desktop machine should do the trick.

I have flashed the BIOS with a thumbdrive on a T60 and on a T61 as well, no problems there. I think it's much more convenient than having to burn a disc.

I tried that, but Rufus and Win32 Disk Imager doesn't worked. What program are you used for flashing bios file to your thumb drive?

I could never get the usb working via "eltorito" (Linux) Both of this worked for me but for a T61 and X61:

- burn the image to a disk and then boot from it
- create a dos boot usb disk with enough space to accommodate the new bios exe, boot form it and then run the exe when on the prompt.
