Thinkpad X1 VS T490(S)

#1 Post by Elypsik » Wed Nov 20, 2019 4:53 am

Hi guys, i'm actually looking for a new laptop, my first choice was DELL XPS 13 but i'v heard a lot of bad stuff on it so i remember thaht lenovo was doing some good laptop, and now i hesitate between two models...

I will use it especially for IT(i work in IT) so developping, networking etc...
BUT i want to travel with it and use it sometimes for watching The Mandalorian... so the screen and the weight is important for me and they seems to be the both pretty portable.

So if you have any advices go for it ! Thanks for your help.

hello and welcome to the forum..
i don't know anything about the dell so i'll not remark on that, nor the thinkpad T490 since lenovo does not just hand these things out like popcorn..
but i DID finally emerge from my cave of admin duties here and elsewhere when the thinkpad X1 extreme came to my attention..
my ONLY reservation was it was larger than the X1 gen 2 (awful keyboard/fn keys) and the gen3 (which i just love in all ways)..
so after finding some lenovo refurbished X1 extremes with ALL the options (4K, touch, 1TB SSD, 32gig, etc) from an amazon merchant where i could use my accumulated amex points i jumped and got one..
even though it was about to be updated with a gen 2 X1 extreme..
been using it for about 7+ months and, for ME it is the ultimate thinkpad.. best ever..
i DID add a 3 year on site warranty since its cost was a good value..
SO, since you asked, an X1 extreme gets my vote.. :)
