Old MacDonald had a Varm

#1 Post by T410 » Sat Nov 25, 2023 12:26 pm

Vee-eye vee-eye o. With a V over here and a v over there, here a v there a v everywhere a vee-vee...

My 410 has seen better days. 2010, for example was probably a much better day. In 2023, it started kicking out the letter V in random spots, always in front of the letter I am actually typing. Its always a v, never vanything (<<see that?) else.

Is this a fixable problem?

I would try another keyboard. If sourcing a replacement, I favor a used secondhand on eBay.

I have other keyboards I can try, but I like to understand a problem before throwing solutions at it. So a better question than "can it be fixed" would be "what would cause this odd behavior?"

I would spitball some problems as a problem with the circuitry of the keyboard or a problem with the laptop motherboard. I have an R61i motherboard that interprets an Fn press as every single Fn combination activated at once, tested with multiple working keyboards.

Changing the T410 keyboard takes refastening just two screws. It's an easy troubleshoot.

Guess I'll try changing keyboards if it gets worse. So far I just do a lot of v deleting.

In the time you have spent v-ing on this thread,
you could easily have swapped keyboards instead...
(it even rhymes :) )
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
