Hii,
I was able to backup the HPA on my Thinkpad R40 in his thread:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=137080
Now, I replaced the original drive with a m-sata to ide 2.5 adapter. After doing that I installed windows 98?SE, which worked fine.
I tried to restore the HPA by creating another fat32 oartutuin at the end of the disk, after that I entered win98 ms dos mode and ran:
cd d:
FWRESTOR FILE=IMGSEET verify
Right away I get the error 'Error: The specified drive is not FirstWare compatible'.
The drive is a m-sata with the following partition scheme:
c: 566060 FA32
d: 4496
Any ideas?
I could just clone the old drive, but I want the restore to work by itself.
