I have an R52 1860-CAU which is a 15" with intel graphics that was originally optioned with an XGA panel. (currently shelved to avoid southbridge failure.

I'll fashion some sort of a copper heatsink out of a 100x100x1mm copper plate in the future)
I'm thinking of swapping in an IDTech N150P3-L01 into it, an SXGA+ IPS panel.
I have found all of the parts I need, SXGA+ cable, the display panel itself, and the inverter for a pretty good price on eBay. ~$40 total(tax+shipping included). I was about to purchase all those parts until some last minute researching brought me to this thread:

Another thing to consider: R52 units came with a couple of different Intel-based boards. Only the ones that were
originally enabled to support SXGA+ LCDs will do so. And the one that OP has acquired doesn't seem to belong in that group...
Does this mean that this upgrade will not work even with the correct trio of cable+inverter+display?
(Yes I was the one who asked which R5x series to get. Ended up getting an Intel R52 model to avoid the ATI GPU failing since I was told it could support SXGA+, but depending on the replies to this post, I may be regretting my decision.)
