"Wire to Board" connector for CMOS battery plug?

#1 Post by greybeered » Sun Jan 19, 2025 5:31 pm

Does anyone happen to know the specifications of the "Wire-to-Board" connector that the CMOS battery wire plugs into on a W540 motherboard?

Background is that I damaged (read broke) the vertical pins when removing/re-inserting the CMOS battery wire plug :( So now I am considering whether to attempt repair of the broken "wire-to-board" connector on the W540 motherboard, after I set-up a newer/refurbished Thinkpad for regular use. While I could just replace the existing W540 motherboard, I thought I'd try my hand at micro-soldering in the CMOS "wire-to-board" connector (for experience mainly). Hence request for specs for (or link on the net to) a replacement "wire-to-board" connector for the W540 CMOS battery wire plug. If no luck at finding the right part, or my repair fails, then the WP540 unit will go the local city that recycles electronics.

Helpful suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.

The schematic says:
ACES-CON2-31-GP
20.F1606.002
Without having seen it, the most likely candidate is probably: https://www.pcboard.ca/jst-xh-2-pin/
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
