The elusive US English keyboard with a Euro symbol

#1 Post by luigi7 » Fri Mar 28, 2025 5:40 pm

I have a x201 with a French keyboard that I'll replace with a US English keyboard, the one with easier access to [] and {} for programming.

The manual lists a variant of this keyboard called "U.S. English (International, with a Euro symbol)", and I think it would be sweet to get. But where?

Just for the record, the part Nºs for the US English one are 42T3737, 42T3671 and for the International version 42T3767, 42T3701 but sellers conflate the two. Listings use the code I'm looking for, but the picture is of the standard US English keyboard. I haven't come across *one* image of this keyboard with a euro key for the x200/201.

I can find this keyboard variant on newer thinkpads, you can easily see pictures of it on the r/thinkpad subreddit, but I can't find it in the older keyboards, with the blue Enter key, despite that someone did mention having the euro key in an x61's US English keyboard, as do the manuals.

I ended up finding one picture of this keyboard, proof it actually exists, on an official parts distributor. Not currently purchasable. The only difference from the layout of the normal US keyboard is the inclusion of the € symbol and that one Alt is now AltGr, which probably explains the lack of demand and the rarity of it. But then this keyboard is just as simple on newer thinkpads and it doesn't seem to be as hard to find for them.

I think you've found the probability of locating one of these is pretty low, though never hurts to ask. You can't just type Alt+0128 when you need a €?

You could just install the US International software keyboard layout, take a regular US English keyboard and have someone engrave the extra symbols on the keys.

I have seen the photos of your bi/trilingual engraved keyboards, they're so cool! Did the forum ever find an online engraving shop?
