T41: after installing Service Pack 2 -> WLan doesn't work
T41: after installing Service Pack 2 -> WLan doesn't work
Hi!
I have an T41 (Centrino) with Windows XP. After installing Service Pack 2 (270 MB Network Version) my WLan doesn't work anymore. I can search for access points and it will find someone - but I can't connect ;-( I have the newest drivers.
Do anyone else have these problem???

I also have a wifi problem with my thinkpad after the SP2 update.
I am running the latest (3.30) version of access connections and the wireless driver software for the 2200 BG card.
If I install SP2, I can connect to access points and most things seem to work fine but large downloads get corrupted, web pages often load incorrectly (and then load correctly if you hit refresh) and terminal server sessions give strange errors about networking problems.
Basically it seems like installing SP2 breaks TCP error correction for data transfer.
Has anyone else seen problems like this? It is probably something you wouldn't notice much if you primarily use wifi for web surfing, although the web pages that you view would occasionally be corrupted and some pictures would fail to display.
I have installed SP2 on this T42 twice, from separate corporate install downloads and the same thing happened each time. I haven't tried doing a factory restore followed by immediately updating to SP2 since I haven't felt like re-installing all of my applications and restoring my data.

I got rid of the Intel Wireless NIC in my T41 for non-performance issues and replace it with the IBM 11/a/b/g (Atheros) card. It works well with SP2 - no major problems. I did have an issue with mapping drives and also with the V3.08a BIOS. I rolled back the BIOS, uninstalled the Wireless NIC, uninstalled Access Connections 3.3, and then re-installed the NIC drive and Access Connections and all is well. ... JDHurst
In my post of Sept. 7th, I said I rolled back the BIOS. There have been a number of updates since including Power Management drivers (courtesy of the BMM update). A day or two ago, I tried out the new BIOS again and Wireless continues to work well.
So, on my T41 2373-1HU, I have SP2 installed (and have had since day 1) plus every possible IBM update except for the newest Software Installer and the machine is humming along just great. The IBM 11 a/b/g card is remarkably stable and reliable. Zero outages with my home Wireless Access Point.
