X40 LCD problems in the future?
Well I have an x40, and love it. friend of mine has an emachines m6809, and he had to rma it after 5 months cause the lcd died.
would this ever happen on an ibm, because im always on the go, so when i close my lcd lid, i just do it quick in a 1 hand swipe and put it in my bag.
will this present problems in the future?

No one can say if your LCD is going to break. Who knows?
But I would say a couple of things:
1. The clearance between the LCD and the keyboard is slight. So slight, that pressure on the lid can cause grease impressions from the keys on the screen. So I close my lid carefully and gently with both hands.
2. At the instant you have closed the lid, the hard drive is still running. It takes several seconds to suspend completely. I let that happen to ensure (a) the suspend took effect (it can fail), and (b) the hard drive is off before I put it in my bag.
3. Because of (1), I put my lid facing the most padded area of my bag.
So, close the lid carefully. 2 seconds. Wait for suspend. 3 seconds max. Place carefully in bag. 5 seconds max. Do this twelve times in an eight hour day. 120 seconds or 2 minutes in a day devoted to laptop care. I don't think this is execessively fastidious or overly careful.

im just saying i close mine in one swift swoop, might i damage this in the long run?
how long is long run, i wont have this laptop in 4 years probably.
If you keep closing the LCD in that manner its gonna go out on you in about 1.3 years time so i suggest you close it with both hand then you will have 2.6 years out of it.
