I just ordered my W500, and it just showed Vista Ultimate. I looked up Microsoft's information on Ultimate, and it said it Ultimate comes with both 32 bit and 64 bit editions. However, looking at my order status it's showing 32 bit. Talking with Lenovo they say that 64 bit is not an option. I saw someone had an order that included 64 bit Ultimate. Did they just remove it? Did anyone else see the 64 bit ultimate as an option when you ordered your W500?
I really don't want to pay the $45 for the 64 bit ultimate recovery CD's. It should come that way from the beginning.

Vista Ultimate 64 Bit - No longer an option
I cannot speak for your series. I have a T61p that came with Vista Business 64-bit. So a bit apples and oranges, but I just wanted to comment on the 64-bit part.
After some months of toil, I now have my 64-bit machine in production as a daily driver. I went through hoops getting it to work, and my ad hoc assessment (I never had 32-bit Vista, so I cannot prove it) is that 64-bit has been an obstacle to smooth production. There remain several things that I have to work around while vendors determine what they should have known 2 years ago - that 64-bit machines are now here among us. I have had to beat up mercilessly on Microsoft, on vendors, and on Lenovo for failing to provide the working software that they advertise. Bugs not withstanding, it is illegal in Canada. Vendors must deliver what they claim on the can.
So perhaps Lenovo would rather withdraw than wither the criticsm.

Vista Ultimate 64 was not an option when I ordered my W500 back on 8/12/08. Business 64 was the only 64 bit OS offering at that point, which is what I went with.
I'm not sure why Lenovo doesn't have Ultimate 64 as an option for the W500.
The only W-series that I've seen offered with Ultimate 64 is the W700.
