access connections (w500) vista64and firefox cause an error?

I have been told there is a problem with access connections crashing "thinkvantage access connections service GUI helper module has stopped working...

a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available...

i am working with a lenovo engr but don't have a date for a fix and was wondering if anyone else has this problem. its annoying because only a reboot will fix the issue if you want to switch from wired to wireless.

Also for whatever reason my wired connection drops sometimes. i can tell because icq goes into stdby mode. i have changed everything from the port at work to the cabling, nothing helps.
