What This Package Does ----------------------- This is a special package which contains Power Managment Driver V1.25, Battery Information Support Driver for ThinkPad R30/R31, and a registry patch program for Access IBM Message Center V1.0x problem. Therefore if you already installed the latest packages on your machine, you don't need to install this package again. This package supports the following systems: - ThinkPad A30, A30p, A31, A31p - ThinkPad G40 - ThinkPad R30, R31, R32 - ThinkPad R40, R40e - ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23 - ThinkPad T30 - ThinkPad T40 - ThinkPad X22, X23, X24 - ThinkPad X30, X31 To determine if you should update the power management driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the power management driver, refer to the "Installation Guide" section. ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/uninstall wizard for this package. INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. Logon with a User ID of Administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click 'Start' -> 'Run...'. 4. Type [Program Path]\SETUP, and click OK where Program Path is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. UNINSTALL: Uninstalation is supported by Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. You have to logon with the user ID authorized as an administrator. Silent Installation Guide (for Unattended Installation support) --------------------------------------------------------------- (Note) This is for system administrators' use only. When you type [Program Path]\SETUP in the above installation guide, add "-S -SMS" parameter to SETUP. (Example: "[Program Path]\SETUP -S -SMS") HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: Power Management Driver Method 1) If you have the original extracted files, find the DISKKU.VER file. You can see the version information using a text editor. Method 2) Check the date stamp of the IBMPMDRV.SYS file under the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory. For example, 1:00 means Version 1.00. Battery Information Support Driver Check the date stamp of each file to see which version is installed. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, point to Search, and click For Files or Folders. 3. In the 'Search for files or folders named:' field, type in "csmbatt.sys". 4. In the 'Look in:' field, specify "Local Hard drives (C:,D:)". 5. Click the Search Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for csmbatt.sys. If the file is not found, then the battery driver is not installed on your system. 6. In the Found part of the window, select the "csmbatt.sys" file located in "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS". 7. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the file. (Windows XP) 1. Start Windows XP. 2. For Windows XP with Classic Start Menu, click Start, point to Search, and click For Files or Folders. Otherwise, click 'Start' -> 'Search'. 3. In the 'Search Companion' panel, click on 'All files and folders'. 4. In the 'All or part of the file name:' field, type in "csmbatt.sys". 5. In the 'Look in:' field, specify "Local Hard Drives (C:,D:)". 6. Click the 'Search' button. Windows will now search your hard drive for csmbatt.sys. If the file is not found, then the battery driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the Search Results panel, select the "csmbatt.sys" file located in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS". 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the 'Date Modified' column to check the date/time of the file. Access IBM 1. Open Access IBM Message Center window. 2. Click About on the System Menu.
